My Magical Green Hearthcraft Practice

My Magical Green Hearthcraft Practice includes working with houseplants in magic, hearth magic for a peaceful home, and cooking and baking with intention with the Green Hearth Witch! Cottage witchcraft is something that is near and dear to my heart.

I’ve been dreaming of writing this article for a long time. I rarely share what my practice is like and how it has changed through the years. At this point in my life, the magic has become built into me.

It wasn’t always this way. I was a beginner myself at one time. After many years of perfecting my craft, I eventually became an advanced-level elder witch.

Here’s the thing, though. Even when you reach an advanced level, you’re always leveling up and deepening your magical practice. It’s important to always be in a constant state of learning, growing, and evolving.

In the present day, I’ve reached a peaceful place in my green hearth witch practice. Again, the magic is built into me, and it’s built into the everyday mundane.

Today, I’m going to share the details of my magical practice! It’s something that has naturally fallen into place, just like the changing seasons and the natural rhythms of life. I hope it inspires you to build your craft into something you truly love and enjoy!

My Magical Green Hearthcraft Practice

First and foremost, my craft is built around nature. I welcome nature into nearly every aspect of my life. I’m a big believer in bringing nature into the home using house magic.

While nature is at the heart of my practice, repetition and rituals are what bring my magic to life. For me, this means weaving magic into the everyday mundane. Something as simple as my morning cup of coffee becomes magical to me!

I find that weaving the magical with the mundane works well for me. I rarely have to do spells anymore because nearly everything I do is done with a magical intention.

I’ve also decided to declutter and simplify my spellwork. There was a point where I had spells scattered everywhere, and things were quite messy. Being a minimalist at heart, I decided to do something about it.

I went to work paring down my spell jars. I wanted to know exactly what each spell jar was used for, and keep it minimal. To keep my spell jars going, I place them outside during a full moon, solstice, or equinox to enchant them.

A huge part of my magical practice is enchanting items to infuse my daily life with magic. I’ve enchanted everything from jewelry and dresses to books, gemstones, and charms.

I also cut down on the number of spells that I create. It’s not about quantity; it’s all about quality. Again, I keep my spells going through enchantment, repetition, prayers, and glamours.

The reason I began to do less spellwork is that I didn’t need to anymore. I’ve got my rituals down, and magic is built into cooking, cleaning, and getting ready in the morning. This simplified my spellwork greatly!

One aspect of green hearthcraft is practicing kitchen witchery. This means putting intention into the magical meals I make. It also means putting my intent into kitchen cleaning, food prep, and understanding the magical properties of foods.

Nowadays, many of my spells are made through the inner temple in my mind. I often write things down, visualize my intent, and feel my manifestation into existence.

Recently, I manifested a new kitchen island by using this process. It works like a charm! The key is to have a deep inner knowing that what you want already exists, and then make room for it in your life.

For example, if your goal is to move to a new place, you might start by buying items for your new home and maybe packing a box or two. It’s important to write it down and follow through with matching actions.

This kind of magic is what works for me. I think it’s always important to find what works for you. Take what resonates and leave the rest.

Working With Houseplants in Magic

As a green witch, I work with plant spirits regularly! I can’t imagine my practice without them. I feel a kinship with plants.

Most of the time, working with houseplants in magic includes talking and singing to them. When I wake up in the morning, I greet my plants. When I go to sleep each night, I say goodnight to them, almost like I’m giving them a virtual hug before sleep.

I also like to put on music and sing to my houseplants, especially when doing spellwork in the kitchen, where I do most of my work. I feel like they enjoy hearing my voice, even if it isn’t the greatest.

While these activities may seem mundane, I’ve found that the best way to forge a friendship with a plant is by spending time with them, and incorporating them into your life in little ways. This, in turn, allows the plant the space and time to want to work with you on your craft.

Additionally, I do a lot of potted plant spells! There are many ways to do this, but the majority of the time it involves burying my spell inside the plant’s soil, and asking the plant to be part of the magic. It works like a charm!

I have plants in my windowsill and on my counters, spread throughout my house, and they all have been chosen carefully by me. I aim to build a relationship with each plant. I prefer to bond with them and make them feel loved!

Hearth Magic for a Peaceful Home

For me, hearth magic for a peaceful home includes doing a lot of things to create good vibes and energy in my home. This often involves working with my house spirits. I never feel like I am truly alone, and I enjoy their company.

Just like with my plant allies, I believe in creating a bond with my home, and the benevolent spirits that dwell there. They offer protection and bring good vibes into the home.

As a house witch, my goal is to create a welcoming energy when people walk into my home. I want people to notice a shift in energy when they walk into my home versus someone else’s. I’ve noticed that’s the first thing people comment on when they come for a visit.

I have a peaceful home life. Right now, I live alone in a small studio apartment. After my boyfriend broke up with me almost a year ago, I decided to spruce up my space, and truly make it my own. My apartment has warm, cozy, and comfortable vibes for every season of life!

During the spring equinox, I add a lot of fresh flowers around the home, and tend to use magical scents like Florida orange blossoms to open up the space in a room. I use a lot of florals found in my backyard or in Mother Nature.

During the summer solstice, I like to add a lot of yellows around my home to represent the sun. Sometimes, I’ll even add sun catchers and sun-shaped charms to my altar. I like the space to feel warm, cheerful, sunny, and bright!

During the autumn equinox, I add gourds, pumpkins, and cinnamon brooms around the home, and pumpkin spiced candles. This time of year, I make my space cozy, warm, and welcoming for my ancestors and friendly ghosts.

During the winter solstice, I decorate for the winter holidays, first and foremost, but with a magical twist. I do everything from enchant my Christmas decorations to lighting candles for Mother Mary and Jesus.

To create ambiance and peaceful vibes in the home, I practice candle magic, especially in the winters and evenings. For candle magic, I usually work with my favorite saints and archangels. Candles have a way of creating warmth in a home.

I also clean with Florida water often! I make my own and it’s one of the most uplifting scent with fresh citrus notes. It opens space in my place for good energy and blessings to come through.

Keeping plant wards in and around my home keeps me and my loved ones safe! Home defense magic is my frontline, and my house spirits and plants are a big part of that. Also, not a day goes by that I don’t pray.

Home is where the heart is! As a green hearthcraft practitioner, I’m always practicing magic in the home, which automatically raises energy in my space. Therefore, a lot of my craft involves making magical playlists and listening to soulful tunes.

Cooking and Baking With Intention

I love cooking and baking, and I find myself doing more of that these days. Making meals from home is cost-effective and often healthier for you. You know exactly what goes into the food you eat when you make it at home.

I won’t pretend that I’m the best cook in the world, either, though I am getting better. I simply know my strengths and use them. Most of all, I love learning how to be a kitchen witch!

On lazy days, I might make a box of brownies from the store, but guess what? What makes it magical is the intention I put into them. I try to do sweetening spells whenever I bake brownies.

Sometimes, I’ll prepare a meal as a spell, but the majority of the time I simply put my intention into the food I make! If I’m building a delicious salad, I put my intention into each ingredient as it goes into the salad bowl.

I also practice a lot of tea magic, especially in the evenings when I want to relax with a good book and a cup of herbal tea. Honey is my go-to! I love using tea spells to sweeten things and stir them in the right direction.

I practice the majority of my magic in the hearth area of my home, which is where my kitchen space lives. Almost all of my spells and rituals are performed on the stovetop, whether it be an intention simmer pot or a magick lasagna spell recipe.

Most of my plants live in my kitchen windowsill and on my kitchen counters, so I have easy access to them for any kind of spell or herbal remedy that I’d like to make. I love having my aloe vera plant within reach in case I get an oven burn!

Recently, my ex bought me a kitchen island for my studio apartment, and it’s really opened up a lot more space! So far, I’ve used it to store some of my herbs, empty spell jars, empty tincture jars, beeswax bars, and charcoal discs for my tiny cast iron cauldron.

I have my eye on a retro pink toaster and microwave for my kitchen island counter! It’s a great space to make fresh bouquets, do food prep, and make herbal remedies. I’d like to use it for a little more kitchen witchery in the near future.

As you can see, my magical practice is extremely important to me. Green hearthcraft is where the home casts a circle around my practice to protect me while I work. I’m glad I could share a small snippet of my journey with you!
