If you’re a green hearth witch, or any kind of witch for that matter, you’ve probably heard about Florida water. It’s a magical potion that every witch should have on hand in their herbal apothecary!
There are many uses for Florida water, including healing, cleansing, protection, blessing, and luck! As a house witch, it can be used for magical cleaning and to raise the home's vibrations.
Sometimes I like to add it to a DIY intention simmer pot to bring out the citrus and botanical notes. It makes the house smell wonderful while dispelling negative energy from the air!
Learning how to make Florida water with your signature energy can be defining for your craft. It’s a great way to practice potion-making! As you get better at it, you’ll learn how to customize it in a way that feels personal to you.
First and foremost, you’ll want to learn its magical properties! It often starts with the desired intent, plus learning the magical properties of each citrus fruit, herb, and botanical.
When I’m practicing kitchen witchcraft, I keep jars of Florida water on my counters to create a sense of uplift in my home! I like to always have it on hand whenever I need it. I mostly use it for cleaning, but I also like to use it to clarify tarot readings and consecrate tools.
Whenever I use Florida water, I instantly feel a shift in energy! Things become crystal clear, and the world around me becomes more magical.

Often used in Wicca, Hoodoo, and Santeria, Florida water is one of the most important ingredients in the craft! It’s the one tool I think every witch should have in their arsenal. Like rosemary herb, Florida water is quite versatile.
Its main uses are purification and protection, but it has many other uses and magical properties! In my earnest opinion, I’d even say it holds medicinal properties, too, especially at an emotional level.
That said, I’ve listed some of its uses below. Keep in mind that it’s up to the practitioner to decide its purpose while creating it.
Consecrating ritual tools, such as crystals, altars, and tools.
Cleansing between tarot readings.
Opening the third-eye chakra.
Ritual baths and dish water.
Cleansing crystals.

Magical House Cleaning and Home Remedies
Instructions for cleansing and blessing your home with Florida water often include magical cleaning purposes! I’ve included some tips to help you get started. While cleaning, you’ll begin to notice an instant amplification of positive, uplifting energies.
Personally, I use Florida water most for surface cleaning and as a floor wash. It can be used to clean countertops, stovetops, the outside of the toilet, and sinks, and for cleaning out the fridge in a magical way. When I run out of citrus fruits, I’ll often pour them down the garbage disposal for a quick clean!
Additionally, I add a few drops to the area where I practice yoga and read my tarot cards. This clears the air of the past readings and enhances my yoga practice. As far as altars go, my kitchen stovetop and counters are my altar, and I keep it clean with Florida water.
Once you start cleaning with it, you’ll begin to notice an energy shift! It feels like it makes space for new blessings to come in. It weaves its magic through the home's nooks and crannies, welcoming good spirits and house guests!
Don’t be surprised when someone visits your home and comments on its high vibrations! It’s very noticeable when you use Florida water as a natural home remedy.
Florida water, home defense, and protection magic are highly important! I recommend adding it to thresholds, windowsills, and doorways to ward off intruders of any kind. It also works to keep the bad spirits away.

Note: I would not recommend using Florida water for wood cleaning, as it is often alcohol-based! Additionally, be sure to use fire safety measures, as they are also a fire hazard.
DIY Magical Florida Water for Witchcraft
It’s easy to make DIY magical Florida water! Anyone can do it. It’s important to add your signature ingredients and make it your own. Additionally, you’ll want to put your intention into it each time you make it.
Each ingredient you add holds something different. As you mix and match ingredients, keep your intention in mind. It’s also important to note that Florida water is well-rounded.
This means that it can be used for a multitude of things! Healing, cleansing, protection, luck, love, blessings, and new beginnings.
Below, I’m sharing the magical ingredients for my Florida water. It’s important to use intuition when making Florida water, in case a spell ingredient doesn’t resonate with you.
Magical Florida Water Ingredients
Alcohol - I use isopropyl (rubbing alcohol), but Everclear and Vodka are also good choices. Make sure 80 - 100 proof. It acts as a bridge between worlds for spirit communication.
Citrus Fruits - I use oranges, lemons, and sometimes limes to make my magical water. Oranges for blessings, lemons for purification, and limes for good luck!
Thyme Herb - I use thyme herb for protective purposes, as well as to add courage, confidence, and strength to my potion.
Rosemary Herb - I use rosemary herb for purification, healing, and connecting with memories of the past, especially past lives and ancestors. Rosemary is a time-travel herb.
Basil Herb - I use basil herb to attract positive energy and blessings into the home! Basil is often used for drawing money.
Flower Botanicals - I use flowers in Florida water, depending on what’s available seasonally. In the photograph in this post, you can see tiger lilies, which connect with the spring witchcraft season. Tiger lilies are often used for wealth, fortune, and good luck!
Cinnamon Stick - I often use cinnamon bark in Florida water for speed and powerful protection! Cinnamon sticks are often used to attract wealth.
As you can see, you can create Florida water seasonally, during the full moon phase, and by following your intuition. The one item that should always be included is alcohol and citrus fruits, as they are staples in magical water!
