The celebration of Lammas is made in honor of the Sun God Lugh! Lugh is the Celtic God of the sun, thunderstorms, and craftsman.
When I’ve called on him in the past, he's helped me with multiple things at once. He’s like a jack of all trades.
Lugh can help you sharpen your focus and become more well-rounded. If you have a special trade or skill, Lord Lugh can assist you in building a stronger connection with it.
For his special sunny holiday, Lugh enjoys tools of the trade if you’d like to create an altar for him. For example, he likes tools, trade books, and ale as offerings!
I find working with him to be very enlightening! For Lughnasadh, I plan to call on him to advance my witchcraft practice further. From there, he might help me narrow my focus.
For example, Lugh might help me focus on plant witchery solely for the holiday, as a way to branch out further with it. He might have me channel all of my energy into one specific plant and work with it for the day.
Lately, I’ve been doing a lot of work with rosemary, and as a result, I have grown closer to the sweet rosemary herb! This could be a result of Lugh’s focused presence in my life.
This is Lugh’s wheelhouse! He loves taking what you already know to be true and showing you more. He’s a skilled craftsman and lord of trade.
Corn Dollies and Lammas Holiday
Corn dollies are dolls made out of corn on the cob or straw. As you make her, you’ll be putting your intention into your doll.
The purpose of the corn dolly is to thank Mother Earth for the harvest she has produced. They also represent good luck and fertility, as well as any intention you’d like to put into them.
This will be my first year making a corn dolly, and I can’t wait! They are often made from straw or wheat and bound together. I am going to make mine from an ear of corn.
I always feel it’s fun to let the magician choose which materials to use based on intuition and using the resources on hand. I went with simplicity since I’m a first-timer.
For me, the most important part of making a corn dolly is giving thanks and gratitude to Mother Earth. Beyond that, you’ll want to make sure you put your intention into it.
What do you desire more than anything? With intentions, get rid of the desire and replace it with what is already done and complete. This is part of the process of letting go and trusting the universe.

What is harvesting magic? Harvesting magic is where you reap what you’ve sown. This is the fun part, where you’ll see visible results come to life.
To utilize harvesting magic, you’ll want to learn the art of letting go and detaching from the outcome. I won’t lie to you, this kind of magic can be the most difficult magic in the world.
Our minds can get the best of us when we want or desire something. That’s why we take the desire out of it and see the task as already done.
Whatever your intention, you need to state it as if it is yours already, in the present moment. This is meant to plant the seeds of your intention.
Planting your intention is often used during the new moon phase when the slate has been wiped clean, and you have a fresh start ahead of you! For harvesting magic, your ship has come in.
Harvesting magic is done during the Lammas holiday, as well as the full moon phase. During the full moon, we see the results of the 28-day moon cycle. During the new moon, we planted our seeds, and everything came full circle.
