An herbal servitor can become a companion or be programmed to do tasks for you. Learn how to make an herbal astral servitor today!
First and foremost, what is an astral servitor? An astral servitor is something the witch conjures up in their imagination (mind’s eye) to perform tasks for them. I have several astral servitors in place that do everything from assisting me in my business to bringing good luck to my health!
The astral servitor must be created first, then activated, and then fed regularly, especially at the beginning. To make an astral servitor, you need only start with a pen, paper, and your imagination.
You are going to program commands into it and create a kill switch for when you no longer need your servitor. Once you become proficient at making astral servitors, you can then begin to keep as many of them as you can handle (It’s a huge responsibility!) and program multiple commands into them.
What is an herbal astral servitor? It’s the same as a regular astral servitor, but will be put together through the use of plants, herbs, mushrooms, weeds, and animal life. This means you can create your astral servitor and place it in a casing if you like.
The casing will be whatever botanical you wish to place your servitor in. It can be a Hekate Mushroom Key necklace, a living flower arrangement that is as temporary as your servitor, or a goldstone dragon crystal statue. The options are limitless!
While I focus on herbal astral servitors here, these can be applied to any kind of witchcraft that you like. It doesn’t matter which kind of witchcraft studies you practice; you can create servitors out of nothing!
Just like with my DIY Botanical Energy Shields, you will need to understand how to manipulate energy. This can be done through something called energy work. Energy work often involves belief, imagination, visualization, and the ability to bring details to life. This is the place to start!
If this isn’t something you are proficient at, no worries! The more you practice energy work, the more energy builds. This goes into spellcasting, healing, protection, and shielding. Practice makes perfect!
I try to make my lessons approachable for all levels of witchcraft skill-building! I believe every witch has a different way of learning, and I don’t believe in holding yourself back, as long as you have the basics down.
This includes cleansing, grounding, energy work, and defense magic! These are ways you can build your skills from the ground up as a witchcraft practitioner.
If you find yourself not quite there yet, please don’t let it stop you! I find there’s a lot of fear-mongering amongst elder witches toward beginners. There’s no need to be afraid to try new things. If you never try, how can you succeed?

How to Make a Herbal Astral Servitor
To make an herbal astral servitor, choose a home for it. By "home," I mean anything you’d like to place your servitor in. The reason I start with the servitor home is that it builds on the idea of the astral servitor. It’s physical, material, and right in front of you! Choose something that you can see every day or carry around with you as the happy home for your herbal astral servitor.

These are just a few ideas to get you started! I chose my astral seritor home to reveal the personality of the servitor I’m going to create. For example, if my herbal servitor is a dragon that keeps the home fires burning in my sex life, I might choose a goldstone dragon statue to be the home for my servitor.
What is the Servitor’s Home?
The servitor’s home is something that contains or holds your servitor in place. If the servitor expires or needs to be destroyed, you can simply cleanse your casing, and the servitor will no longer exist within it. It’s that simple! Once you hit the kill switch on a servitor, which we’ll talk about in a minute, its energy and essence no longer exist.
Some people, like myself, have herbal astral servitors minus a physical home. I recommend a servitor home for magical people just starting to create astral servitors. Designing astral servitors is considered an intermediate to advanced-level form of witchcraft, but the casing makes it easier for beginners to bring it to life.
This way, you can hold it in your hands and carry it with you wherever you go! This makes your herbal astral servitor look and feel real. It is real!
Depending on your servitor’s home, you can then begin to build the image, energy, and essence of your herbal astral servitor. This is where you might like to sit down with a pen and paper and begin creation.
Designing Your Herbal Astral Servitor
Grab a pen and paper and write down what your astral servitor looks like, feels like, and acts like. For example, what kind of movements does it make? Does it have a specific scent or color? Does it make you feel a certain way?
Take your time working in this arena! The more imagery and details you put into your servitor, the better the outcome will be. Once you have an image in your mind, you’ll want to give it a name.
What do you want to name your astral servitor? I tend to choose easy names I can remember. For example, I have a lunar moth herbal servitor that I’ve named Luna. Why? Because it’s easy and it fits!
Once you have a name, you'll want to program any commands you’d like your servitor to perform for you. For example, my lunar moth is in charge of my entire website and business. She is a huge lunar moth fed by the phases of the moon!
That’s the next thing to think about. How are you going to feed energy into your herbal astral servitor? How often will it feed?
I feed mine regularly, usually monthly, and often by the moon phases. In the beginning, it’s a great idea to keep feeding cycles as simple as possible.
For example, you might want to feed your herbal astral servitor burning bay leaves if it is a fire dragon that keeps your relationship and sex life hot and passionate. I have a fire-breathing dragon that does exactly that!
You can also create playlists for your astral servitor for feeding time. This can be a song that resonates or an entire playlist dedicated to feeding your servitor.
After you’ve created a feeding schedule, you’ll want to create a kill switch, especially if you only need your servitor to help you with temporary assistance. I kill my servitors by writing their names backward three times, clapping my hands, and watching them evaporate into thin air. I then cleanse any casing my servitor might have been contained in, using sea salt, sage, and the death tarot card. I make a ritual out of their death to be sure it is complete!
Last but not least, you need to activate your astral servitor and place it in its casing! To activate it, make a sigil using your servitor’s name. Cross out any double letters. Transform the remaining letters into a symbol, also known as a sigil. You can be as simple or artsy as you like with this!
Before burning your sigil, feel free to add dried herbs to the symbol you’ve created. You can either leave it overnight or activate it right away, based on what feels right for you. Choose herbs that represent the characteristics of your servitor.
For example, for my lunar moth, I would use moonstone (moon energy), cinnamon, cloves, and allspice, since this is an herbal servitor for my business.
For my fire-breathing dragon, I would use the goldstone dragon statue (casing), damiana herb (aphrodisiac), catnip (for closeness, intimacy, and bonding), and patchouli (for romance, passion, and sexual energy)
Next, burn your sigil to make it come to life! The fire element is fast-acting. This instantly activates your herbal astral servitor, bringing it to life. Once it exists, it cannot unexist unless you use your kill switch.
Place your servitor in the casing of your choice and carry it with you wherever you go! Again, your servitor’s home can be a braid, a crown, a house-shaped purse, or a piece of jewelry. Whatever you like!
Your herbal astral servitor is now complete! It is alive and activated, and ready to go do things for you. Be sure to feed it, take good care of it, and give it lots of unconditional love. They are as real as you and me!
