Plants By Laurali Botanical Style: DIY Goddess Hekate Mushroom Key

Botanical Style: DIY Goddess Hekate Mushroom Key covers the symbolism of the Greek goddess of graveyards, ghosts, and herbal witchcraft with Plants By Laurali! Keys can be used to open doors to opportunities and new possibilities. Are you ready?

I started working with the Greek Goddess Hekate many years ago while living in a tiny fishing shack beside the sea. There, I began to form a deep relationship with the lady of torches and nighttime. This is when she began to open doors to me.

She opened the door to herbal witchcraft for me. She taught me how to see beyond the hedge, to the places where no one goes.

Hekate taught me how to perform my first curse, as well as my first banishing and binding spell. She taught me a great deal about protection and defense magic.

When I was ready, she taught me how to make my first key. My first key was a black mushroom that I plucked from the forest floor and kept in a bottle of isopropyl alcohol for preservation. When the key needed a refresh, I would shake the bottle, watching my mushroom key and its every movement.

Mushrooms, onions, and garlic make great keys. When you’re ready, you can make a key out of virtually anything in nature. But, today, we are going to learn how to make a Goddess Hekate Mushroom Key.

Why mushrooms? Mushrooms have magical and medicinal properties just like our favorite herbs, plants, and natural healing foods. When you choose the right mushroom and match it to its personal power, you can unlock the door to something profound and mystical.

What are keys used for? Keys are used to open the doors to opportunities and fresh possibilities. Keys can open the door to knowledge and wisdom, which Goddess Hekate can provide in full.

To make a key, you are going to have to do a little mushroom hunting to find the right key. The right key will come to you at the right time when you know it.

With that being said, let’s talk about how to make a Goddess Hekate Key and why you would want to make one. What door would you like to open? What road would you like to unlock? The possibilities are endless!

Botanical Style: DIY Goddess Hekate Mushroom Key

To make Hekate’s Key, you must first have an understanding of Goddess Hekate. She is the goddess of graveyards, witchcraft, ghosts, doors, keys, and torches. Her powers are universal and limitless.

When I think of Goddess Hekate, I think of the most secret place of them all. The place where ghosts and restless spirits reside. I think of graveyard witchcraft when she comes to mind.

Goddess Hekate guides the dead to their final resting place. She holds the key to the underworld and provides a safe refuge for the death witch. To understand her better, one must turn to the death tarot card.

The death tarot card represents death, rebirth, and all the places in between. It is within that in-between liminal space where you can find Goddess Hekate, hiding in the shadows with her set of keys.

How will you know when Hekate is ready to give you one of her keys? There will be a knowing and a spirit of quietness as she approaches you with her key.

Goddess Hekate is known as both the goddess of keys and doors. She uses her torch to light the way in all the darkness. She holds the knowledge, wisdom, and power to the great mysteries of life.

She is a patient goddess and she is an ally and a friend. But, make no mistake, Goddess Hekate can be violent, fierce, and commanding, like a voice booming in a place of solitude.

While Goddess Fortuna is my patron deity, Goddess Hekate is how I power through the darkness. She enfolds me in her arms like a mother would, offering shelter and protection.

It is in the darkness where I have found her key and learned to make my own set of keys. Mushrooms hold a sacred power to the Goddess Hekate. They open the doors to things you never knew before.

Making a Goddess Hekate Mushroom Key means unlocking your source of power. Power can be scary sometimes. It can be unyielding and relentless.

To walk through that door, let us make your first botanical-style mushroom key. If you find yourself in darkness and can no longer see the light, that is where Goddess Hekate will be, waiting for you with open arms.

Mushroom Spiritual Meaning

Fungal communities are both diverse and complex. Transforming a found mushroom into a key teaches us as above, so below! The Fungi community begins underground and supports the forest ecosystem.

The fungi community system can communicate with one another, making this the perfect key for receiving guidance from the spirit world, which happens to be Hekate’s specialty. Goddess Hekate enjoys mushroom offerings so to make a key in her honor would send her over the moon!

The spiritual meaning of mushrooms lies in the otherworld. Mushroom spirits represent our ancestors and the guidance we can receive from them.

The mushroom spirit also represents fairies and nothing says in-between realm like the nature spirits do! Mushrooms offer food and shelter to many animals and insects, including the fae not easily seen.

Mushrooms also denote transformation and change. One day, you’ll head into the forest and see a fungal community. The next day, you’ll return and it will be gone.

That is the nature of change, transformation, and growth! It’s important to keep that in mind when creating your Hekate Mushroom Key.

To make a key, one must hold a promise of intention. What is your intention for making a Hekate Key? What door will the key unlock?

Mushroom Hunting and Finding the Perfect Key

To create a mushroom key, you’ll want to head to your local forest! The forest ecosystem is a hotbed of activity for fungal communities. If the conditions are right, you’ll find your perfect mushroom key in a shady spot or by a mossy fallen tree!

Finding the perfect mushroom key means being safe and proceeding with caution! Many poisonous mushrooms are deadly.

I recommend learning about your local mushroom varieties and reading up on mushrooms in your area. There are handbooks and guides you can find online or in your local bookstore.

A deadly mushroom could make the perfect Hekate Mushroom Key! In this case, you’ll want to walk the path of poisonous plants, which is right in Goddess Hekate’s wheelhouse. This requires an understanding of deadly plants and mushrooms and how to handle them.

If you prefer to go the non-poisonous mushroom route, you can look for oyster, chaga, reishi, and turkey tail mushrooms, just to name a few. Again, learn about the local mushrooms in your area and feel out which one is the key for you.

You can bring a basket or an old medicine bottle to contain your Funghi Key. You may need to bring a small shovel or spoon with you to do a little digging.

If you are working with a poisonous mushroom variety, you’ll want to proceed with caution! Never touch or handle them without wearing special gloves and using special tools. Be sure to build an extensive knowledge base regarding poisonous mushrooms and the craft before trying this!

After you’ve found your mushroom specimen, be sure to place it in a container until you reach home. It is here where you will spend a little time with your Funghi Key to get to know its true essence!

How to Make a Hekate Mushroom Key

Now that you’ve found your perfect mushroom key, it’s time to put it to good use! It’s time to activate your key. By now, you should have some idea of what intention you’d like to set for your key.

You should know what your key will be used for and what door it will open. If you find yourself foundering, wait to activate your key.

At this point, you can choose how you will contain your key. Will you keep it in a spell jar? Will you wear it around your neck as a mushroom key necklace?

Containment spells hold something. What will your spell key hold? It will hold your intention to open a door. It will contain the mushroom spirit within.

You can now place your mushroom key in its container. At this time, you can even create a servitor for your mushroom, which is an astral spirit you create to do something for you. Think of it as a servant you feed.

What can an astral spirit do for you? There really are no limits! You can use it as a ward of protection, as a good luck charm, or as a way to make money in your business.

Creating an astral servitor is optional. I would only do this if you have experience creating astral servitors or take note of it for a future key.

Beyond that, you can simply set your mushroom in its container while thinking of your intention. If you can, use visualization. Visualize the mushroom key opening a door for you.

When you feel you have built enough energy, call on Goddess Hekate to boost, support, and activate your mushroom key necklace or charm! At this point, you should have already formed a healthy relationship with both Hekate and the funghi of your choosing.

Relationships take time to build. Goddess Hekate may turn you down if you aren’t ready, but be patient, as eventually she will guide the way. She is well worth the wait.

Be sure to give gratitude and thanks to both Hekate and the mushroom spirit! This is an important aspect of deity worship and mushroom witchcraft.

How to Use Your Hekate Mushroom Key

To use your Hekatean Mushroom Key, you are going to need to open the door! To open the door, hold the container that holds your mushroom key.

Again, the container can be anything from a mushroom terrarium to a mushroom terrarium ring. You can create the container to the perfect vision of what you want or keep it simple.

Anytime you need to open the door, hold your container mushroom key between both hands! You can choose to keep the door completely open or open and close the door at will.

At this time, visualize a door with a color. What color choice comes to mind? A blue door can mean the door to anti-anxiety and a red door can represent some kind of power you’d like to have.

Next, picture your mushroom key opening your door by fitting it into the lock. The lock should be shaped like the mushroom, not the container holding the key.

You can choose a keyword to use at this time! It could be an affirmation of your intention or any kind of power word that you like. This keyword will only be known by you, the mushroom spirit, the astral servitor (optional), and Goddess Hekate.

Open the door and see what’s inside. What do you see? It should be an energy, symbolism, or color code of what intention your Hekate key holds.

Once you open the door, what you have asked for, whether it be knowledge, power, or wisdom will be immediately in front of you. In the days ahead, you will see the door open in your life.

Look for signs, symbols, angel numbers, and dream premonitions that guide the way. It will be different for every person and every key.

To close the door to your key until next time, simply visualize your mushroom key and Goddess Hekate closing the door and locking it in a mushroom shape. Ask that the door be shut by the powers that be!

Anytime you need to open it, you’ll have your Hekate Mushroom Key! Get ready for fresh opportunities and new paths to be opened in your life and let Hekate guide your way. Blessed be!
